Mold is a fungus that can be found indoors and outdoors and grows best in warm, damp and humid conditions. Mold spreads and reproduces by making spores which can become airborne as well as attach to certain types of materials such as drywall. When mold spores are present in large quantities, they can be a health hazard to humans, potentially causing allergic reactions and respiratory problems.
According to the National Organization of Pre-mediators and Mold Inspectors, bleach does not kill mold. It is very effective in removing the discoloration but it may leave micro-flora that will enable mold to return if the conditions are right. Mold spores are also likely to be sprayed when they come into contact with bleach because mold is a living organism that wants to survive.

Our standard protocol when we deal with mold is to create a disposable containment unit, or multiple disposable containment units, if needed. These units are created for one project and one project only. They are used to isolate the mold and focus our equipment at the damaged area.
We use containment units when working with water damage so that we can direct the dehumidifiers to the specific location of the water and speed up the process.
Whenever there is a fire, the first step is to make sure the fire is completely out and that there is no risk of restart. Once you are certain that the fire has been fully extinguished, work should begin as soon as possible.
Long-term damage caused by a fire can usually be reduced by simply starting the cleanup as soon as possible.
